PopBoardz App Reviews
Thank you so much for the Update…. I had only been playing with images that worked great for me. Didn’t even know the others were having a problem. And getting rid of the Powered by PopBoardz will let me use this for my client presentations. Using it everyday. Love the iPhone version too!
Nice basic alternative to PowerPoint and Keynote for organizing and presenting materials. I would love to use this for my next presentation in two weeks, but one key feature is missing that prevents me from using PopBoardz: True iCloud syncing. iCloud Drive importing and exporting is not just a pain in the okole, but you could easily end up with different versions on difference devices and no way to know which is most current and no way to sync/merge them. I faced that problem with other apps and am loathe to face it again with PopBoardz. I need true iCloud syncing — one file in the cloud that, when changed, is changed on all other devices. That way, I can create presentations on the iMac at home, then hit the road with the iPhone, knowing that I will be presenting the latest (only) version of the presentation. And if I make a change on the road, when I get home and open PopBoardz, I want to see that change without any fiddling with importing/exporting. Until true iCloud syncing is available, I must consider PopBoardz to be a novelty app on the cusp of becoming a professional app. Update: Won’t display pdfs and crashes when opening a web page. Hmmm. Update 2: pdfs and web pages now work properly. Removing the logo from the bottom right corner is a bonus. Now that I’ve had a chance to play with these improvements and fixes, I’m even more impressed with PopBoardz’s simple yet powerful presentation/organization capabilities. A solid improvement and another star for the rating. All PopBoardz needs now for a perfect 5-star rating is true iCloud syncing!
Downloaded this for a presentation, and it was perfect. Easy to setup, nice aesthetics, simple interface. But then… it crashed. And crashed. And crashed. And crashed. And crashed. If it worked this would be great. I’d even pay for it. BUT it doesn’t so don’t bother.
I was excited to try this app because I create moodboards all the time using Keynote. When I dropped an item on one of the boxes it takes a few seconds to load and I can’t do anything but wait. I can live with that. Next I tried exporting—there is only one option which is a proprietary format and then it hangs when I get to the save sheet. After force quitting, I tried to change the logo and it hangs again. I had to force quit. Two major functions and it hangs on both! Uninstalled!
Will not import
I was very disappointed. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to import and or drag and drop content into the program, but, no such luck.
I’m a teacher, so I have to do a lot of presenting. To make this more useful: 1. Add support for Powerpoint. 2. Allow font size changes inside the notes category Thanks!
Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. This is a great way to consolidate various elements of a presentation. PDFs, images, web links, movies, etc. The only things I would add at this point are 1) full screen mode 2) slideshow display in tile when multiple images are in a tile (would make it more dynamic). UPDATE: Was working then it suddenly stopped. Can’t create a new board, or export any longer. Also, boards exported for use on the iPhone and iPad don’t render the same way they render on your Mac. Great idea, but the release may be a bit premature.
I liked the app at my first glance, but then one day it somehow crashed. It kept on asking me should it reopen what I was working on, but again, no matter what I chose, the unexpected quit message popped up and if I click reopen the process starts all over again. Please fix this because this is a great app and I would like to give it a 5 star review. It would also be nice if you added compactability to various screen sizes because I once used it with a projector and it just cuts the sides off.
Love using this app! Wonderful tool in presenting to clients on the fly and aggregating concepts, ideas, and project-specific materials in one place. Only down side is when sharing, the recipient can’t view what you share without downloading/installing the app themselves. It would be great to maybe export to a cloud and then sending someone to the shared item so they can view your board through a browser/viewer no matter if they have the app or not, or if they are on a PC. Can’t wait for the next version, but will continue to have fun with this version.
I tried this, and it works well if you take the time to learn the keystrokes and click patterns necessary to use it. But it should be clearer, and it should provide some full screen options for certain websites. For example, when watching a Youtube video, I was unable to use full screen. That could be problematic if I want to use full screen to help my audience focus only on the video when it’s playing. But it’s a great concept and product in development.
Super improved!
This update solved a lot of my issues. Runs smoothly now and does all. Highly recommended to update!
