PopBoardz App Reviews

51 Customer Reviews:

Can’t contact support because their website submission doesn’t work. The Mac OS app doesn’t work for PDF’s, MOV’s, MP4’s, or websites. The only thing it appears to support is static images. It seems like a nice idea, and their ipad app has decent reviews, but the Mac app is, to be generous, alpha quality. I hope they fix it quickly, but I’m disappointed they released it without better testing. Besides lacking those features it should also have a way to navigate and close tiles from the keyboard.

Cons: It crashed 3 times in 10 minutes. The brand logo doesnt go away. I added .pdfs to the board but, when you click the tile to display the tile larger, it will not show the pdf larger. It only shows the pdf in the small thumbnail image.

Crash, Crash Spin Crash

Crashes or hangs everytime I try to use it. Might even be a cool app, but the crashing is preventing it from being useful

Sorry to say, but I see no need for this app

Call it bloatware, or just a waste of time, effort and money - but, I honestly don’t see any need or use for it.

Was unable to “present" anyting because the program kept crashing. Placed a weblink, an image and a pdf into the main board. Got the spinning beachball for 20 seconds, and crash!. Reopened, added the files again, tried to test the presentation and… crash. The idea that you create all the content with other programs and just “place it” in this program is basic enough—but the developers have not shown us how this process is any easier, or how this program is any better then the established (and stable) presentation programs we have all been using for years. Am I missing something? Glad it was free…

I thought the idea was interesting and it seems to work well on the iPhone, but, somewhat ironically, the iPhone version is vastly superior to that of the Mac. I don’t know if its just because I upgraded to the 10.10.4 public beta or not, but it won’t display PDFs or load videos (probably the two most useful utilities of the app). With that said, the app certainly has potential and I will keep it installed for a few weeks to see if they patch this issue or if it gets fixed when 10.10.4 goes live.

I was looking for some thing just like this for my small business. This just keeps crashing!! other wise the concept is wonderful , just needs to work>>>

Maybe in the future when they design this properly and I am able to use it and get support for it, I’ll try it, but for now, I cannot waste any more time trying to get this to work. It is a total waste of time … BTW next time I will write what I really want to say

This thing didn’t work from the start! I take that back… I was able to add a cutom background. Other than that, nothing worked. I added a PDF and it never opened. I just got a black screen. I added a weblink and the home screen popped up on the board. Every time I clicked on it to open the link, the app crashed… Faithfully! No if’s, ands, or buts. CRASH. PopBoardz didn’t ponder over if it wanted to crash or not. Just “Bloop” I’m gone! PopBoardz: “Did you see what that message said?” Me: “No, what did it say” PopBoardz: "DEEZ NUTZ! Ha! GOTTEM!” Crashes O.o Don’t waist your time. Use Trello and/or Evernote...

I love the concept but this app constantly crashes on my 2015 MacBook Pro 13 when trying to edit a webpage link. Needs to be fixed immediately or removed from App Store. No excuse for selling buggy apps.

Love this app!

Terifically versatile tool for arranging and presenting your creative materials. It’s extremely intuitive and easy to use.

Looked like a pretty cool idea, but you really cannot put anything into the tiles except static images. PDF files no. PPT files no. Any Microsoft docs no. Why does it say PDF’s up there on the sample? Doesn’t work for me. Just needs more work and a better product manager.

CrashBoardz, more like it...

Completely unuseable - crashes every time you try to do anything. Great idea, but shocklingly terrible execution.

Hmmm...

It simply doesn’t work as the video suggests… can’t get even the simpliest of functions to work well, if at all.

PopBoardz is the greatest invention for presenting ideas since cuneiform. Very happy to see this Mac version - I’ve been using it on my iPad for awhile now and can’t imagine how I ever got along without it. Fantastic. UPDATE - looks like as of today’s update the few bugs have been fixed. Works perfectly!

Julian@Bulldog · 11 years ago

I can play videos once they are in my board now!!!

After this update the program works wonderfully! Thanks!

SO happy to have the desktop version working. I’ve been a regular use of the Popboardz iPad version. Loving how easy it is to create boardz on this new Mac version.

1.0.2 was well worth the wait! Marvelous app and wonderful UI/UX. Thrilled that it includes file handling from Google Drive and Dropbox. (Hope Evernote is coming soon.) Once you learn the “art of the tile,” you can present anything you want in any order you want and drag around tiles to re-order things in a second. Live websites, visuals, text cards, pdfs, whatever. Makes Powerpoint look like your grand daddy’s ancient 8-track player. If you’re trying to sell ideas in a super creative way, this is how it’s done. Love the app!

Basically, I cant imagine a simpler way to organize information for a presentation without going all the way to Powerpoint. It takes seconds to assemble something. My first experience with this a week ago was a disaster -- constant crashing -- but this update is working much better. A couple of concerns: Vimeo movies dont expand to fullscreen and crash the program. (And it appears to me that YouTube movies look dark.) The thing Id really need to make this more useful is the ability to add any Mac document -- Pages, Numbers, etc. Excited about the potential here.

Great idea but needs improvement

It will be nice if it can support audio files and office documents. Thanks.
